SBC/Yahoo DSL Sucks

SBC Global is the worst company. Because they are incompetent, they block all outgoing email except through their awful sbcglobal.net. I look forward to shifting to RoadRunner or some other company as soon as I can.

Because they don't know how to manage spam, they have blocked my mail ports. Read about it Here.

RUN FROM SBC'S DSL SERVICE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

  • If it's available, you may want to look into Speakeasy, possibly the coolest ISP on the planet. They figure that it's your connection, so you should be able to do whatever the hell you want with it. Host a server, share it with neighbors, etc. They have even set up a service to help you run your own mini-ISP - share your connection wirelessly and let others help you pay for the service. Check it out
    here.

  • You could try installing a program called Hotmail Popper. I use it to send/retrieve Hotmail messages through Thunderbird. It's a little background mail server, but since it goes through Hotmail (you'll need an account), your ISP won't block it. I don't think it overwrites your From: field, so the recipient doesn't see the Hotmail address. You'll have to look around for a S/N, I think it was something like 9999999999.

  • Yeah, I checked it and it doesn't overwrite your From: info.
